Murat Demir is a tax professional with nearly twenty-five years of professional experience in tax advisory, full certification (tax audit), corporate restructurings, and multidisciplinary matters at the intersection of tax and law. Throughout his career, he has advised numerous domestic and international companies on tax and legal services, including tax planning, tax risk management, investment incentive schemes, and complex corporate structures.
He graduated in 2004 from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Business Administration (English Program), and completed his postgraduate studies in Public Law through a joint program of Bahçeşehir University and Uludağ University. By combining a strong academic background with extensive professional practice, he has developed deep expertise particularly in highly regulated industries.
Murat Demir began his professional career in 2004 at the İzmir Office Tax Department of an international audit firm that is part of the well-known four audit firms (B4). He subsequently served at the same firm’s Bursa and Istanbul offices and was promoted to Manager in 2009 and Senior Manager in 2012. In 2013, he was appointed as the Head of the Bursa Office, a position he held until the autumn of 2018. During this period, he led major tax advisory engagements, managed tax audit processes, and played a key role in large-scale restructuring projects for group companies.
In addition to tax advisory and full certification services, he has been extensively involved in mergers and demergers, intra-group restructurings, investment incentives, indirect taxes, and special consumption tax (SCT) applications. He has actively advised companies operating in the chemical, automotive, manufacturing, and nuclear energy sectors, and has developed particular expertise in structuring the tax and regulatory aspects of large-scale, long-term investments.
Within projects in the aforementioned sectors, he has worked on investment processes, incentive mechanisms, tax risk management, and the tax aspects of technical processes carried out with public authorities, and has developed specialized expertise in projects subject to a high level of regulatory complexity.
Since 2018, he has been with Nazalı Tax & Legal as the Partner in charge of the Bursa Office, and since 2021, he has been appointed as Regional Partner responsible for the Bursa, İzmir, and Denizli offices. In this role, he is responsible for the coordination of regional teams, strategic client management, and the execution of complex, multidisciplinary advisory projects.
He has participated as a speaker and trainer in numerous national and international seminars, conferences, and training programs.
Murat Demir is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA – Turkey / SMMM) and is fluent in Turkish and English. He also has a working knowledge of German.
