Ersin Nazali is a tax law expert, CPA, attorney-at-law and academic with more than twenty-five years of professional experience in the field of tax law. Having served as a Tax Inspector (Hesap Uzmanı) for nine years, he has developed extensive expertise in tax audits, tax litigation, transfer pricing, international taxation and corporate tax restructuring.
Born in Denizli in 1979, he completed his undergraduate studies at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, and Dicle University, Faculty of Law. He holds a Master of Science degree in Fiscal Law from Istanbul University, as well as an LLM in International Tax Law from King’s College London, School of Law. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Fiscal Law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, where his doctoral research focuses on “Transfer Pricing from a Tax Law Perspective.”
Following his first university graduation in 2001, Ersin Nazali worked at Arthur Andersen Turkey, Tax Department, and subsequently served as an Assistant Inspector at the Prime Ministry Inspection Board. In 2004, after successfully passing the competitive national examination, he was appointed as Assistant Tax Inspector, and in May 2007, he was promoted to Tax Inspector (Hesap Uzmanı).
During the 2008–2009 academic year, he served as a part-time lecturer at Istanbul Aydın University, and has since acted as a speaker and trainer at numerous conferences, seminars and professional training programmes organised by public institutions, professional bodies and private sector organisations.
Since March 2009, upon approval of the Minister of Finance, he has been appointed to the Tax Council, where he actively contributed to the redrafting of Turkish tax legislation. He also served as a member and rapporteur of the Advisory Commission of the Board of Tax Inspectors, delivering lectures particularly on corporate mergers, demergers and spin-offs. In addition, he played an active role in the establishment of the Tax Dispute Monitoring Unit within the Board of Tax Inspectors.
Since 2012, Ersin Nazali has been practising in the private sector as a tax consultant and attorney-at-law, advising domestic and multinational companies on complex tax matters. He is the author of more than eighty articles published in various academic and professional journals in the field of tax law.
Since 2012, he has been consistently recognised by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as a leading tax law expert in Türkiye. He has also been listed by International Tax Review in the areas of transfer pricing and tax controversy.
His main areas of expertise include tax audit and risk management, domestic and international corporate restructurings, international taxation, transfer pricing, mergers and demergers, family-owned business structuring and tax litigation.
Ersin Nazali is married, has one child, and has a strong command of the English language.
